How It Started...
In May 2019 I went on a toure through Namibia for the first time.
During this tour I was able to meet very special people that I carry with me for the rest of my life.
For example, during a visit to the Ombili Foundation, I met a number of children who were so natural, pure and honest that I could hardly believe that such a thing still exists in a country where they do not have much material. There was a girl who asked if she could have my sunglasses. I hesitated for a moment because it didn't feel right to give one girl something, while there were several children there. As if she felt my doubt, she then said "just to try it on ma'am". Of course I handed her the sunglasses. I still get goosebumps and tears in my eyes when I think back to this moment.
Another special moment was when we returned to our lodge after a game drive in Etosha and the receptionist asked if we had seen many animals. I told her that we had seen a leopard up close and despite the fact that she had never experienced this herself, she replied "I'm so glad for you that you had the chance to see a leopard". And this answer came right from her heart!
During the tour I fell in love with this incredibly beautiful country with its beautiful nature and animals but especially the amazing pure people and their fun language.
I don't quite know how to put it into words, but I think my soul opened in Namibia; this journey has turned my whole life upside down; Since then there has been a life for me before and after Namibia.
The booking for a 2nde visit in May 2020 was already a fact, but then came Covid 19. We are now a good year ahead and not one day has passed without me thinking about Namibia.
Because of Covid 19, I can't do anything for people on the spot at the moment; however doing nothing is and remains a "no-go" for me.
That's why the idea was born to do something from the Netherlands for the great Namibian people.
Thanks to the technology, this is all possible despite the great distance.

For me, Namibia has everything a country should have, but above all the purity of the people is what appeals to me and stays with me. That's why I want to mean something to these people at all costs.
